Valencia

Valencia lies at the centre of the Spanish Mediterranean coastline, bathed by the sea the Romans called Mare Nostrum. It is an open, cosmopolitan city which has always been a meeting point for different civilizations throughout its history. Today, as always, it is a hub between northern Europe and the Mediterranean countries thanks to its efficient links and communications network.

Summer is two months long, winter is not much more than a few chilly days. The rest is one long springtime, making Valencians and residents extroverted, uninhibited and always ready to get out and about on the streets, at the cafés on public squares, under the open sky. This is a city with one of the best climates in Europe: an average temperature of 17ºC and 90 sunny days out of 10 enable everyone to profit year round from the region's fine beaches, stretching out from the city itself along the entire coastline, making this area a highly important tourist centre.

Valencia has a modern communications network that makes it easily accessible from all over the world. Thanks to a new terminal building at Manises International Airport, located only 8 km from the city, the number of international flights has grown spectacularly over the past few years, connecting Valencia and its hinterland with major cities throughout Spain, Europe and the world.

Valencia offers an array of historic remains from old civilizations. It's a must if you want to learn more about European culture. With monuments that tell tales from the history books, easily accessible to all kinds of visitors, plus museums that contain interesting exhibits reaching back over the centuries.

The City of the Arts and Sciences is a leisure and entertainment complex addressing the great concerns of making: science, art, the future and nature.

This is unquestionably one of the most ambitious projects which Valencia greets the Third Millenium in the certainty of becoming a major urban destination, a model of vanguard development.

Valencia's rich cuisine, starring fresh fish, rice and vegetables, is another pleasant surprise awaiting visitors to this land. The queen of dishes is of course the "Paella", born in the huerta, or patchwork of rice fields and market gardens surrounding the city.

They say people in Valencia Know how to work and how to have a good time. Nothing could be truer!. As the moon comes up Valencia unfolds an extensive array of possibilities in a brightly-lit capital that loves good living, and provides visitors with lots of opportunities for fun.
